Using GISc to solve today’s most significant problem
The online three (3) day GISc course will provide participants with the knowledge to use GISc to analyse the impact of hazards and disaster risk, which include the COVID-19 outbreak.
The course will focus on using GISc and disaster risk analysis techniques for mapping risk areas for landslides and the COVID-19 outbreak.
The red areas indicate areas were landslides CAN occur.
Solving the problem
Specific questions that the course will answer include:
- Identification of high-risk areas for COVID-19 outbreak in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
- Identification of risk areas for landslides in Namakwa District, South Africa.

Platform
Microsoft Teams will be used for training and trainees will be added to a Team through which they will receive more information.
QGIS will be the GIS software used during training.
